Background and History
Flips’ acrobatic skills have formed the basis of an impressive career that has included performing for Disney in the U.S. and Paris as well as in various stunt shows around the world (some which included him high diving from 25 metres into a 3 metre deep tank of water!).
Flip started out teaching himself springboard diving which earned him a full time scholarship at Alabama University to dive competitively for the University. Whilst there he also started doing acrobatics and tumbling at the Stadium Football Games and became known for doing a back flip off the goal posts at half time in front of a national TV audience. Later he followed his heart and joined the circus after beating 6,000 applicants to train at the highly regarded Ringling Clown College. He travelled the US as a clown with America’s biggest Circus before travelling the world as part of a 3-man Acrobatic Troupe. He added juggling, unicycling, magic and pantomime to his list of skills and continued to perform around the world in big live shows as well as on TV.
His hectic lifestyle is considerably calmer these days after he fell in love with an Aussie woman and eventually chose to settle here in laid back tropical Cairns. But, once a clown, always a clown! His verbal skills from Comedy Clubs in the U.S. add to his Tavern Magic and Balloon Sculpting for Kids and Adults.
These days he performs mostly Magic Shows for Schools, Birthday Parties, Corporate Magic ( Roving and Stage ), Tavern Magic and Festivals.
As Flip always says at the end of his shows: “As we travel through life, we find all the while… there’s nothing’s more precious than a laugh and a smile.”
